SKILLED VISAS
If you’re applying for a visa based on your own skills (rather than through employer sponsorship), the first step is to lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) program.
This points-based program includes:
- Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)
- Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491)
Successful applicants are invited to apply by the Federal or State/Territory Governments, based on their points score. Points are awarded for factors such as age, qualifications, skilled work experience, English proficiency, and other criteria.
